NBL FPO at Rs 280 Best Opportunity for Portfolio Add !



After much wait, Nepal Bank Limited (NBL) is issuing its Further Public Offering (FPO) to the general public. The bank is issuing a total of 1,76,84,858 unit shares as FPO at a face price of Rs 280 per unit share. The bank created many controversies when it had announced to issue FPO as the bank was unable to comply with the guidelines of Securities Registration and Issue Regulation, 2073. People were unsure whether the bank would be able to issue FPO or not. However, the commercial bank is now issuing FPO after gaining approval from all the regulatory bodies.

After the new decision being made by the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON), the institutional applicants can thus apply for the FPO share from the first day as well. The issue is now open, starting from Friday yesterday June 29th 2018 (Ashadh 15, 2075) initially for about a week lasting till this Thursday July 5th 2018 (Ashadh 19, 2075).

Is it Worth Applying for NMB Bank FPO??? How Much to Invest?



In the due course of expanding the paid-up capital, 21st AGM of NMB Bank had endorsed the agenda of capital increment through FPO. Later the Board meeting of the company held on Paush 24, 2073 decided to issue 1,14,15,163 units shares at a premium price. The issuance of shares through FPO would not only increase the capital and collect reserves but also dilute the promoter shareholding to 51%.



NMB Bank had previously issued FPO to its Joint Venture Partner (FMO Netherland) at Rs 250.

IPO Analysis of Rairang Hydropower Development Company Ltd.



Company Overview:

Registered as a private limited company in 2nd Baisakh 2059 and then transformed into a public company in 20th Baisakh 2071, Rairang hydropower has its registered office in Kathmandu-11, Thapathali. This company has the hydropower centre in Panchthar district of Mechi zone.




The company has 500 KW Rairang Hydropower Project, 9900 KW Ewakhola hydropower project under its umbrella. The company took a loan of 104 crores for the construction of Ewakhola project, on Falgun 2071.


The main purpose of the initial public issue (IPO) is to manage the fund for the 9.9 MW Ewakhola project.

Rising Interest Expense Slows Down BFIs Net Profit Growth? See Which Commercial Bank Was Least Affected !


Analyzing the third quarter (Q3) report, we came to know the industrial growth of listed commercial banks have slowed down to 12% this year. The same was above 20% in the previous years. The logic for this is simple, the growth rate of expenses has exceeded the growth rate of income and as a result the net profit growth has decreased its pace.



Reviewing the expense side of profit and loss in commercial bank’s balance sheet, one can easily notice the tremendous growth of interest expense. The unhealthy competition between banks and financial institutions (BFIs) to attract the deposits has resulted in an enormous increase of interest expense. The average interest expense growth of commercial bank stood astounding 95% in last one year.

LBBL 10% Right Share Issue Deadline Extended ! Don't Miss Again !!


Lumbini Bikas Bank Ltd. (LBBL) has just extended its deadline to apply for its 10:1 (10%) right share issue to its shareholders by additional 1 week (7 days) till next Wednesday 7th March 2018 (23rd Falgun 2074). Otherwise, it was ending today Wednesday 28th February 2018 (16th Falgun 2074). The right share issue has previously been open for 35 days starting from Thursday 25th January 2018 (11th Magh 2074).


The book closure date for the right share issue was set on Friday 5th January 2018 (21st Paush 2074). That means, only those shares registered one trading day ahead of the book closure date, i.e., till Thursday 4th December 2017 (20th Paush 2074) are eligible to apply for the right shares. The bank is issuing more than 2 million units of right shares.

Green Development Bank Ltd. (GRDBL) has just extended its deadline to apply for its 1:4 (400%) right share issue to its shareholders by additional 2 weeks (15 days) till Wednesday 7th March 2018 (23rd Falgun 2074). Otherwise, it was ending tomorrow Tuesday 20th February 2018 (8th Falgun 2074). The right share issue previously open for 35 days starting from Monday 16th January 2018 (2nd Magh 2074).


The book closure date for the right share issue was set on Monday 1st January 2018 (17th Paush 2074). That means, only those shares registered one trading day ahead of the book closure date, i.e., till Sunday 31st December 2017 (16th Paush 2074) are eligible to apply for the right shares. The bank is issuing 4 million units of right shares

First Microfinance Again First to Publish First Quarterly Report of FY 2074/075; Earnings Surge by 60.44% to Rs. 24.13 Million !

First Microfinance Development Bank Ltd. (FMDBL) is again the first among the publishing companies to publish its provisional financial statement from the (Q1) of the fiscal year (FY) 2074/075, with an impressive profit growth of 60.44%.


According to the unaudited financial report for Q1 published yesterday, the microfinance has stated that its net profit surged to Rs. 24.13 million in Q1 as compared to Rs. 15 million in the corresponding Q1 of the last FY 2073/074.

The borrowing of the microfinance has increased from Rs 32.2 billion in the corresponding Q1 of the previous year to Rs. 35.2 billion in the Q1 of the current FY 2074/075.

Its net interest income has also increased to Rs. 40.8 million in the Q1 up from Rs. 26.5 million compared to the corresponding Q1 of the last fiscal year. The microfinance company has an operating profit of Rs. 37.9 million in Q1 of the ongoing FY.

The paid up capital of the company stands at Rs. 456.2 million in Q1 of FY 2074/075. Its reserve and surplus surges to Rs. 96 million in Q1 from Rs. 56.9 million in the corresponding Q1 of last FY.
